Personal Statement About Community Accountability
I pledge to do my best when it comes to solidarity against bigotry, racism, and injustice. In the past, I have not openly expressed my views on these matters, especially through my website and business-related social media accounts.
While this platform is nothing special, I will do better.
San Clemente Island goats have an amazing history and carry genetic diversity that parallels everything related to DEI. Supporting diversity in all forms is important. Listening to the voices of people who share their concerns is paramount.
To move forward toward positive change, we have to acknowledge our history, become aware of our social positions, and work on critical self-awareness. Community building includes supporting those who have been harmed by hate and ensuring both physical and psychological safety. I will do everything in my power to make sure people feel safe when being involved with the EB Ranch Farmstead.
Any threats, racism, or negative adversity to friends and the community will be diligently blocked. In short, bigoted ideologies of any kind, no matter how you sugarcoat them, are not welcome here. I will no longer involve myself with people who register these goats with any other registry besides the SCIGBA.
It is a monumental process not only to foster and create a solid future for these endangered goats, but also to make sure these goats go to homes where more positive community building can grow. These two goals mesh well together to help create fertile ground for diversity of every kind.
Harmful interactions of any kind will not be tolerated, so we can allow genuine growth to happen.
